When Jira is the better choice
Jira is the standard for engineering issue tracking, and on that ground it is ahead of us. Choose it when:
- You are running a large engineering organization — many teams, release trains, a QA process and years of issue history in one tracker. That is the scale Jira was designed around, and it is not a scale KyroTask has been tested at.
- Your process needs deep workflow customization: custom issue types, per-project screens and fields, transition conditions, approval gates. KyroTask is opinionated and there is far less to turn — that trade runs in both directions, and only you know which side you are on.
- You already live in the Atlassian ecosystem. If your company works through Confluence, Bitbucket and Jira Service Management, staying inside it is worth more than anything on this page.
What KyroTask brings
Frequently asked questions
How is KyroTask different from Jira?
Jira is an issue tracker you configure to match an engineering process. KyroTask is built around delivering work to a client: the portal, versioned proofing, billable hours and the invoice are the product rather than four separate ones. Kanban, sprints, story points and loop-guarded dependencies are here too — there is simply much less to configure, and much less you can bend.
Can we bring our Jira issues across?
Yes, through the import wizard. Jira’s own CSV export (Issue search → Export → CSV) maps summaries onto tasks, statuses onto board columns, and carries assignees, priorities, due dates and labels. Attachments do not come across — the importer leaves a link in the description instead — and how many rows a single import may carry depends on your plan.
How does pricing compare to Jira?
Neither price belongs on this page, and for the same reason: plans and per-user rates move, and a number printed here would keep being quoted after it stopped being true. Ours is on our pricing page — a free tier, a per-user Pro price that drops when billed annually, and portal users who never consume a team seat. Atlassian publishes theirs on their own site. The part worth comparing is the shape: here, time tracking is Pro, rate cards and budgets come with every plan and profitability reporting is Business; there, rates and budgets come from a Marketplace app licensed on top.
