COMPARISON

KyroTask and Teamwork.com, compared honestly

Both are built for agencies, and both give clients free access. The difference is age and shape: Teamwork.com is the established, broader product; KyroTask is newer, narrower, and includes a public API, an MCP server and sprint analytics as standard.

When Teamwork.com is the better choice

This is the closest comparison on the site, and the honest summary is that Teamwork.com is a mature product doing the same job. Choose it when:

  • You need deep resource scheduling and capacity planning across a large agency. Our capacity view is a weekly heatmap, not a scheduling system.
  • You need retainer and recurring billing, or a direct path into your accounting software. Our invoicing is a first version: it composes an invoice from tracked hours and carries your own payment link, and KyroTask never touches the money.
  • You want a vendor with a long history in this category and a large customer base to reference. That is a reasonable thing to want and we cannot offer it yet.

What KyroTask brings

A client is never a seat
Portal users never consume a team seat. You choose task by task what a client sees; internal notes and costs stay behind the wall.
One chain from hour to invoice
A timer, rate cards, project budgets and a cost frozen at close — ending in an invoice the client reads in their own portal.
Built for client work
Versioned proofing, intake forms, scheduled client reports and an approval flow — the product itself, not an add-on.

Frequently asked questions

Is “clients are free” a difference between you?

No. Teamwork.com also gives client users free access, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is a real difference against most general project tools, and not against them.

Then what is actually different?

Shape and age. KyroTask ships a public API with scoped keys, signed webhooks and an MCP server for AI agents, plus sprint analytics — velocity, burndown, cycle time — as standard. Teamwork.com is the older product with deeper resource scheduling and billing.

Should we switch?

If Teamwork.com is working for you, probably not. The case for switching is if you want the agile and API side, or you want a smaller, faster tool and are willing to trade some depth for it.
