Billing and profitability reports
What each report answers, and how to get the numbers out as a file.
The billing report
Billable hours and their value over a period, grouped by project and by person. This is the report you would read to a client, and the one an invoice is composed from.
The profitability report
The same period with cost against revenue, and the margin between them. Because both the billing rate and the cost rate were frozen when each entry closed, a past period reads the same today as it did then.
Getting the numbers out
Both reports export as CSV, and the file is built by the server rather than from what happens to be on screen — a filtered or paged table would otherwise hand you a total that disagrees with the report.
The billing report reads tracked hours, which are Pro; the profitability report is Business, because it exposes what your team costs you.
